This watercolour was possibly painted by the architect and designer craftsman George Jack around 1900, or earlier as a study for plasterwork panels, but more likely towards the end of his life, when according to his friend T.H. Crawford, Jack’s failing health meant that he was less able to do modelling or carving and instead took out his colours and brushes.
